Beginner Workshop Featuring Clay & Creativity
Join me for a playful afternoon of muddy hands, learning the basics of handbuilding with clay to create a duo of versatile vessels.
We will prepare slabs of stoneware clay and use templates to cut out pieces before assembling them into little cups (or mugs, if you decide to add a handle), perfect for sipping your favourite beverage.
SCHEDULE
We’ll spend the workshop in the cozy and welcoming Gather, first going over the basics of the ceramic process and then tackling the handbuilding of our sippers.
Mid-way through we’ll need to take a break to allow the pieces to dry slightly. There will be beverages and an array of delicious homemade food provided to enjoy as we wait.
Once the clay has set up a bit, edges will be softened, optional handles attached, colour added, and finishing touches completed.
Our time together will finish around 4:30pm.
Once the sippers have completely dried, I will fire them twice and glaze them with your choice of translucent glaze. Your pieces should be ready about 4-6 weeks after the workshop, and will be available for pickup at either Gather or my studio; or shipped for an additional cost.
