unwind, create, connect
Spend a Sunday morning sipping tea & shaping slabs of clay into a duo of delightful little flower vases!
Registration will open Tuesday, April 21st (with early access to those folks on my Studio News email list).
-
We’ll spend the workshop in the bright art room at ALM elementary school in K’il Kun (Sandspit).
The space has:
two single stall, gender neutral bathrooms
sturdy, but small, armless chairs
a large set of stairs at entry
-
This workshop is open for complete beginners to pottery.
It is suitable for ages 16+.
I strive for my workshops to be a safe and welcoming environment for all genders, races, ethnicities, sexual orientations and abilities.
-
We’ll start by going over the basics of the ceramic process and then tackling the handbuilding of our little vases.
There will be beverages and a platter of nibbles to enjoy.
Once the clay has set up a bit, we’ll add carved designs, edges will be softened, and finishing touches completed.
Our time together will finish around 12:30pm.
Once the vases have completely dried, I will fire them twice and glaze them your choice of glaze.
Your piece should be ready within 4-6 weeks of the workshop, and will be available for pickup at my studio (or at a TBA time in Daajing Giids).
For folks coming from Graham Island: I’ve timed the workshop for the ferry to Alliford Bay at 9:30am, and the one back to Graham Island departing at 1:30pm. -
Comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting muddy

“The [workshop] was a fantastic experience!
Amber created a lovely, calm learning environment for all levels, with many practical and visual examples and demonstrations... I would highly recommend any of her workshops to anyone interested in dipping their toes into a new craft, or those looking to rekindle an old hobby.”
