Winter Ornaments

  • Earth Temple (Haida Gwaii) 403 Oceanview Drive Daajing Giids, BC, V8J 3V6 Canada (map)

Slow down, get your hands muddy & your heart full

Do you need a calming contrast to the hecticness that this time of year tends to bring?

Join me for a delightful and restful Sunday afternoon of clay and creativity!

We will enjoy hot cups of tea and delicious afternoon nibbles, and slowly create a few beautiful ornaments from slabs of clay.

  • We’ll spend the workshop at Earth Temple in Daajing Giids.

    The space has:

    • a single stall, gender neutral bathroom

    • armless, padded folding chairs

    • ground level entry

  • This workshop is open for complete beginners to pottery.

It is suitable for ages 14+.

I strive for my workshops to be a safe and welcoming environment for all genders, races, ethnicities, sexual orientations and abilities.

  • The workshop will begin at 1:30pm, which works well to catch the 12:30pm ferry over if coming from Sandspit.

We’ll start by going over the basics of the ceramic process and then tackling the handbuilding of our ornaments.

There will be warm beverages and an afternoon snack to enjoy.

Once the clay has set up a bit, edges will be softened, and finishing touches completed.

You’ll choose your favourite 3 ornaments to have fired and finished.

Our time together will finish around 3:30pm, in time to catch the 4pm ferry sailing back to Alliford Bay.

Once the ornaments have fully dried, I will fire them twice and glaze them your choice of translucent glaze.

Your pieces should be ready within 2 weeks of the workshop, and will be available for pickup at my studio (or a TBA time in Daajing Giids). Delivery can be arranged for an additional cost.

    • Comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting muddy

    • Cookie cutters & Items to create texture eg. foliage, lace, stamps (all optional, I’ll have plenty on hand as well)

    • Craft apron (optional)

  • $125/PERSON* INCLUDES:

    • 2 hours of facilitated studio time, which includes all materials to make and decorate three ornaments, as well as the kiln firings and glazing necessary to complete your pieces

    • warm beverages and an afternoon snack

A perfect afternoon was facilitated by Amber. All I had to do was play with clay. And now I have 3 beautiful ornaments.
