Slow down, get your hands muddy & your heart full
Do you need a calming contrast to the hecticness that this time of year tends to bring?
Join me for a delightful and restful Sunday afternoon of clay and creativity!
I’ve found us a cozy, seaside venue where we will gather to drink tea, eat scones, and slowly create a few beautiful ornaments from slabs of clay.
-
We’ll spend the workshop in the Seaport B&B in K’il Kun (Sandspit).
The space has:
multiple single stall, gender neutral bathrooms
wide, sturdy, armless chairs
a set of stairs at entry
-
This workshop is open for complete beginners to pottery.
It is suitable for ages 14+.
I strive for my workshops to be a safe and welcoming environment for all genders, races, ethnicities, sexual orientations and abilities.
-
The workshop will begin at 1pm, which works well to catch the 12pm ferry over from Skidegate.
We’ll start by going over the basics of the ceramic process and then tackling the handbuilding of our ornaments. There will be warm beverages and an afternoon snack to enjoy.
Once the clay has set up a bit, edges will be softened, and finishing touches completed.
You’ll choose your favourite 3 ornaments to have fired and finished.
Our time together will finish around 3pm, in time to catch the 3:30pm ferry sailing back to Skidegate.
Once the ornaments have fully dried, I will fire them twice and glaze them your choice of translucent glaze.
Your pieces should be ready within 2 weeks of the workshop, and will be delivered back to you then.

“The [workshop] was a fantastic experience!
Amber created a lovely, calm learning environment for all levels, with many practical and visual examples and demonstrations... I would highly recommend any of her workshops to anyone interested in dipping their toes into a new craft, or those looking to rekindle an old hobby.”
